Skolars Youngsters Excel in Origin Series.
Over the last few weeks the London Junior Origin series has taken place across various venues of the Capital. After a superb season for all our Junior sides we had 24 players selected for the 3 game series and all our youngsters played their part in a superb series win for the North.
As Origin reached its climax this weekend, it was nicely poised with the South leading by 7 games to 6 and with one draw, there was everything to play for.
Medway Dragons provided the venue for the final game and the U12’s kicked off the winning streak for the North as they brought the series level in the first game of the day. There were some key plays in that fixture with Skolars youngsters Dylan Jimini, Cameron Mcneil, Josh Mctavish and Owen Millard having superb games.
The continuing games saw the series swap hands a number of times, and it came down to the two final games of the day between the U15’s and U16’s to decide which of the regions would be victorious in the series.
The U15’s ably coached by Newham Dockers John Issacs and assisted by Skolars U13’s coach Ian Ackley and Skolars U15’s Assistant Peter Hamer snatched the win by the narrowest of margins in what was the game of the day. Again many of our Junior Skolars played their part in this game with the U15’s Daniel Hindmarsh scoring the crucial try to make the score 24-20, winning not only the game but also sealing the series for the North.
Once again congratulations to all our young Skolars and well done to all our coaches who also played their part in a great series win. We will be sending out our registration packs for the upcoming 2015 season with an Early Bird Offer, so keep your eye out and sign up now to get your registration at last year’s prices.
