The club’s U12s competed in the Grand Final of the London Junior League on Saturday at Eton Manor. They came up against the Bromley Bengals. The Bengals came into the Final with an unbeaten record in the regular season. Skolars had played three and lost one League game to reach this showpiece event.
Skolars started brightly and raced into a 10-0 lead. However, the Bengals hit back before the half-time whistle to trail 10-6 at the interval. The two sides were evenly matched at the start of the second half. The sides exchanged tries and the score moved to 14-10. However, Skolars continued to press forward and were cheered on by the spectators in attendance. Tries for Jasper Morgan and Rufus Goodfellow extended Skolars’ lead and they ran out 26-10 victors. Rufus Goodfellow was named player of the match but all of the players performed brilliantly! Everybody associated with the club is extremely proud of their efforts and are excited to see this group develop further in the seasons to come.
The Junior League is now drawing to a close for 2021. However, the ‘Open Age’ squad will train and compete until the start of September. The club are hosting several holiday activities throughout August. Please contact Kev Flanagan for further details – kevflanagan@skolarsrl.com
