Special offer to Aussies, Kiwis and service-people tomorrow

22nd April 2022

IN honour of our Antipodean fans and players and those in the armed forces, we’ll be recognising Anzac weekend in a special way for our clash with Rochdale Hornets tomorrow at New River.

Unfortunately a shortage of officially accredited and available Australian and New Zealand service personnel – busy with other remembrance ceremonies over the weekend in London – means we will be unable to feature an on-field recognition of the sacrifices of men and women of the armed forces before our 3pm kick-off.

Monday is Anzac Day, when Aussies and Kiwis remember those who have fought for the countries in conflicts around the world.

However, we will be pleased to offer two-for-one entry for any two people holding Australian or New Zealand passports and free entry for any serving military personnel who come to the game in uniform.

With Rangi Chase and FuiFui MoiMoi on the Hornets’ books, there’s plenty of Southern Hemisphere interest in tomorrow’s big game! Add to that a fully-stocked bar and street food and you’ve got a perfect afternoon out.

Coach Joe Mbu has named his extended squad for the match. From the side beaten 50-28 by Midlands last week, centre Charles Hammond, scrum-half Phil Lyon and prop Christian Gale drop out.

In come Ryan Cane, Judd Greenhalgh, Elliott Hutchings, Abevia McDonald, Will Ramsay, Adam Vrahnos, Sam Wellings and Richard Wilkinson.

The squad will be trimmed to 17 an hour before kick-off.
